The Gift of Life Abroad
Throughout the years The Gift of Life has been in operation, our organization has had the honor of helping hundreds of preemie families both in and around Orlando, which is our home base, and across the U.S. Starting early 2018, our reach has extended internationally, starting with Africa.
Two outreach teams of our developing satellite office explored the impact premature birth has made in Cameroon and Kenya. They were able to hand out supplies and information materials to several families there. Plans are now in the works to build a Gift of Life clinic and orphanage as well as extend our services to address the needs of orphans in the area.
Our focus on orphans comes thanks to a new partnership with Orphancared, specifically their new division called Neocared, which is devoted to helping babies that were abandoned after being born premature in the NICU. Today, our coverage area in Africa includes not only Kenya and Cameroon but also Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Burundi. We are also developing a unit in Haiti.
Our ultimate goal is to be in any country where premature birth is a major concern in the population. Translators are working with us to overcome language barriers and make our materials available in every language in which we have reach.
